Dyslexia affects around 7% of the French population. It has nothing to do with intelligence, but it can make reading and writing more tiring every day. Here are practical solutions, tested or recommended by Certified Dyslexic.
1. Take stock with a test
The Dyslexie Test & Tips® app helps you take stock of your situation. It does not replace an assessment by a speech therapist, but it is a good first step.
2. Get help with writing
A writing assistant like Grammarly suggests corrections while you write your emails or LinkedIn messages.
3. Make reading easier
The Lexilight lamp by Lexilife was designed to help people with dyslexia read. Bionic Reading puts the start of words in bold to guide the eye. MYdys lets you take a photo of a text to adapt it.
4. Tools adapted for school
R2D Tooldys and Glaaster offer digital tools to adapt school and homework for dyslexic children. Poppins offers a scientifically validated therapeutic programme.
5. Let people know
The Certified Dyslexic digital stamp can be added to your email signature, your CV or your documents. It makes clear from the start that you are dyslexic, so people judge your ideas, not your spelling. It also comes in a physical version and in several European languages.
6. Don't stay alone
Dyslexia associations and communities are a real source of support. See our full selection on the Resources.
